Fashion Week. The former
Spice Girl gained over 57,000
new followers during the New
York shows, and had over 17,
000 mentions on the social
networking site.
The mother-of-four showed
two collections during the week
- her mainline Victoria
Beckham range
and her secondary Victoria,
Victoria Beckham line
.
Marc Jacobs - who was the
second most mentioned New
York designer - didn't even
come close to rivalling
Beckham's figure, with just
over 8,800 mentions. Hot on
his heels in third place was
Diane von Furstenberg (with
approximately 8,600
mentions), followed by
Alexander Wang in fourth
place (with 6,700 mentions),
Michael Kors in fifth place
(with 6,200 mentions), and
sixth place going to DKNY -
which was mentioned over
5,900 times.
According to the report -
conducted by New York-based
analytics agency Whisper
Group - designer Rebecca
Minkoff gained the second
highest nu,ber of new followers
after Beckham, with more
than 30,000 people following
her in the space of a week.
Michael Kors was third highest
in gaining new followers,
attracting over 14,300 new
fans. Ralph Lauren, Rachel
Zoe and Marc Jacobs also saw
an significant increase in
their number of followers.
The Whisper Group dissected
layers of Twitter algorithms to
identify the most popular
trends, designers and topics
during the New York spring/
summer 2013 shows. The
number of tweets using the #
NYFW hashtag was double that
of last year's September shows
- with most tweets coming
from the US (72 per cent),
and the UK (5 per cent).
According to the group's
findings, the most popular
catwalk trends talked about
on Twitter were white, leather
and lace.
